Oman Flour Mills Company and Omran Group signed yesterday land usufruct agreements at Sultan Qaboos Port and the Mina District area, covering a total area of ??60,000 square metres, distributed over 35,000 square metres at Sultan Qaboos Port and 25,000 square metres in the Mina District area, in a move that reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s vision towards enhancing food security and developing the economic sector.
These agreements include establishing new projects aimed at improving storage and distribution capabilities, which contributes to meeting the needs of the local market and enhancing the sustainability of the food sector in the Sultanate of Oman. The storage capacity of the silos will increase after the expansion by 200,000 metric tons, and the storage capacity of the horizontal warehouses will increase to 76.6 thousand metric tons. The projects include the use of the latest technologies in storage systems, which contributes to enhancing operational efficiency and reducing losses.
The new facilities will also be designed to the highest safety and quality standards, to ensure a suitable environment for food storage.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Oman Flour Mills Company by Haitham bin Mohammed Al Fanah, CEO of the company, and on behalf of Omran Group by Dr. Hashel bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of the group.
